Telecommunications boom in 2007

According to Bui Thien Minh, deputy general director of the state-owned Vietnam Post and Telecommunication Group, 2007 is the year that telecommunications really take off in Vietnam. To bully capitalize on the growth human resources and service quality need to be improved. There are likely to be 6 million new cell phone subscribers and another 1 million broadband Internet users.

Vietnam denies visa for Norway representative

Le Dzung, a foreign ministry spokesman, responded on February 15 to questions about why Arne Liljedahl Lynngard, chairman of the Thorolf Rafto Foundation would not be granted a Visa. Vietnam feels there's been a lack of goodwill on Norway's behalf. The Foundation issued statements that are not only false but slanderous.

Buddhists to continue to promote harmony in coming year

According to Viet Nam Fatherland Front’s Deputy President Huynh Dam, the Viet Nam Buddhist Sangha worked diligently last year in encouraging nuns and monks to uphold policies and laws. Dam was very happy to meet with Most Venerable Thich Thanh Tu when he visited for the Tet celebration.

Vegetarian restaurant in Hanoi is popular

The Adida restaurant in Hanoi is a vegetarian restaurant with 300 rotating dishes. There are meat dishes offered, but they're not really meat; they're tofu, rice, or vegetable concoctions made to look like meat. The cuisine is Sino-Vietnamese that has been very well received.

Young students in Ho Chi Minh City pass English test

On January 27 almost 1000 elementary students in Vietnam received their Young Learners English certificates after they passed the University of Cambridge ESOL tests. Each year over almost 2 million people in 135 countries take the Cambridge English for Speakers of Other Languages tests.
