Museum for Vietnam vets is opened

Graeme Kerford recalls that when a returned home after a draft that sent him to Vietnam for a year of military service, he was spat on by the crowds. Recently he was among more than 1,000 veterans, their families and members of the Vietnamese community, to witness the opening of Australia's first museum dedicated to their war.

Bird flu hits ducks in Vietnam city

In the fifth locality to have been affected by the virulent virus in the past three weeks, bird flu has killed 100 ducks in the Mekong delta city of Can Tho in southern Vietnam.

Endangered primates and the fight against extinction

Today's battle in Vietnam is a very different one from that fought years ago. It is the battle to save a species of endangered primates. Five of the 25 most endangered of this species are to be found in Vietnam.

Japan and North Korea to talk in Vietnamese Capital

The choice for this venue is largely a result of Vietnam's policy of simultaneously courting capitalism while maintaining ties with its one-time communist allies. With some of Japan's largest companies being amongst the biggest investors in the Vietnamese economy, it was a natural choice for them.
